Job Summary:

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and experience by working as a Lambeth Apprentice. Apprenticeships give you the opportunity and support to develop new work-placed skills in an organisation committed to your professional success.

As a Lambeth Apprentice, you will fully commit to the 20% off-the-job training requirements of the post alongside your normal day-to-day job. The post holder will complete a course of study and/or all learning and development requirements of the role.

A Lambeth Apprentice is expected to engage with the additional opportunities developed specifically for Lambeth Council Apprentices. As a Lambeth Apprentice, you will utilise the support on offer to maximise the benefits to your professional development.

You will have the opportunity to participate in a supportive environment to develop the behaviours, knowledge and professional skills required of the role and the team. You will commit to your professional development plan, set out at the beginning of your Apprenticeship.

Lambeth Apprentices are expected to take ownership of the tasks & projects set out by their line manager. Apprentices understand the importance of managing both professional and learning responsibilities.

Department Summary:

Provides programme, project and recruitment support to colleagues across children’s services. This role will have the opportunity to work across the directorate with managers to develop and deliver excellent people management.


Duties

Duties

  1. To undertake all administrative, business support and clerical roles as requested by your line manager, providing effective support and completing to a high standard. This includes supporting and preparing for meetings, reception duties and other administrative duties.
  2. Support additional day-to-day activities of the department, including office operations and diary management.
  3. Answer enquiries to the department: by phone, e-mail or letter and forwarding information onto relevant staff.
  4. Manage information including maintenance of document and IT systems, record & archive management and confidential file disposal.
  5. To communicate with stakeholders and partners as required, building relationships and contributing to the engagement activities of the department. You will be an advocate for the department, sharing good practice and representing the aims and policies of Lambeth Council in a friendly and professional manner.
  6. Assist with the project and programmes, under supervision. This includes PMO activity, data collation, benchmarking, and preparation of documents, relationship management and ensuring that meetings are administered.
  7. To support the coordination of the recruitment process across children’s services. This includes coordinating job descriptions, staffing establishment process with HR, advertisement of roles and interview processes.
  8. Ensure all tasks and responsibilities are completed to agreed timescales with a high standard of accuracy.
  9. To meet all learning commitments of the apprenticeship as directed by your line manager, the Apprenticeships Manager or the learning/training provider. Assigned qualifications and an end point assessment must be completed. This can include presentations, portfolios, units of assessment and exams.

Essential criteria

Qualification

Q1 Must have minimum achieved level 1 maths and English GCSE grade E (3) or higher, Functional Skills 1 or equivalent.

Knowledge

K1- Good Working Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

K2- Must meet one of the core eligibility criteria of the apprenticeship scheme

Experience

E1- Experience of handling customer enquiries, resolving queries face to face, on the phone and in writing
