We currently have an opportunity for an Associate Project Manager Apprentice within our MPPG (Major Programmes and Projects Group) Project Management team based in Central London, seconded to the Thames Tideway project. The individual will work towards achieving a Level 4 Project Management qualification.

The course will run over an 18 month. The successful candidate will receive support with 20% off-the-job learning via a local accredited training provider and this will be done through blended learning including four components; workplace activity, classroom learning, online learning and exams.

Working on Tideway project means much more than simply cleaning up the River Thames. You’ll be part of a team that will leave a legacy for London that will far outlive the project.

About the role

An Associate Project Manager knows what needs to be achieved, how it will be achieved, how long it will take and how much it will cost and works with the project team to achieve the required outcomes. They need good planning, organisation, leadership, management and communication skills.

They also utilise resources with suitable skills, qualifications, experience and knowledge to work together in a motivated and integrated team, with clearly defined reporting lines, roles, responsibilities and authorities.

Programme units usually cover a number of project management principles and practices: •Understanding the principles behind successful project management through business case and investment appraisal

•Developing risk management plans, structured techniques and approaches for planning projects efficiently. Monitoring, scheduling, resource, budget and cost management. Using software tools such as Microsoft Excel to assist with planning and execution e.g. risk and quality analysis

•Working with people and resources to plan, run and manage projects on time and on budget

•Effective project communication and managing stakeholder relationships

In addition, you’re your based location, there may be some rotation throughout the Tideway project delivery offices which are all based in London. The main Delivery sites are:

•Central Delivery site office, 80 Kirtling Street, London SW8 5BP

•East Delivery site office, Chambers Street, London, SE16 4XL

•West Delivery site office, Carnwath Road Riverside, London SW6 3EJ

Qualifications About you Essential qualifications:

•Achieved a grade C/4 or above in at least 5 GCSEs including Mathematics and English AND holds an A Level in any subject OR Level 3 qualification in a similar Project Management qualification.

Desirable Skills & Characteristics:

•Confident communications skills both spoken and verbal •Strong numeracy skills •Experience of using MS office packages; particularly Microsoft Excel You should be able to demonstrate that you are: •A well-mannered and professional individual with a positive ‘can do’ attitude. Proactive in nature who takes pride in ‘getting things done’ to a high standard. •Able to demonstrate a keen interest in a career in Project Management within the engineering & construction environment and some understanding the Tideway Tunnel project.
