ML Community Enterprise (MLCE) work to improve the lives of young people and communities who experience difficulty and disadvantage. We help create a sense of pride, inspiration, ownership, well-being and belonging, and provide life-long learning opportunities. We offer a range of holistic services that promote inclusion and demonstrate the value and potential in our communities. We work with a focus on children and young people, together with parents and families to address the primary causes of social exclusion, criminal and risk-taking behaviour.

We run a Youth and Community Centre where we provide safe spaces for young people and communities to be, socialise, create and develop ideas and enjoy activities.

Job Purpose

  1. • To develop a vibrant, local community hub that offers a range of spaces and activities.
  2. • Establish relationships with local community groups to develop and promote a full suite of community programmes that meet community needs and maximise use of the spaces and facilities.
  3. • Work with the Leadership team to develop marketing and communications plans to promote activities, events and Centre facilities, increasing our profile and maximizing income through space hire.
  4. • Ensure the Centre is safe, well maintained and offers a positive experience

Duties

Duties and Responsibilities

Building Compliance

  1. • Organise and Supervise the Centre operatives and volunteers (cleaning and caretaking)
  2. • Ensure effective maintenance of the building - including building maintenance and improvement programmes, organising and supervising contactors and others regarding work in the building
  3. • Keep abreast of and comply with the organisation’s policies, procedures and standards relating to all aspects of buildings health and safety and fire regulations as directed by the Leadership Team.

  1. • Ensuring the Centre has up to date policies and procedures for using the Centre and taking responsibility to ensure that these are complied with at all times
  2. • Managing storage space and equipment use within the building
  3. • Report to the Leadership Team any concerns over the building or grounds and ensure that the building is kept at the highest possible standard.

 

Engagement

  1. • Identify and establish strong relationships with local community groups and organisations and directly with local people.
  2. • Plan and promote the Centre to this network to ensure maximum utilisation of our available spaces, seven days a week.
  3. • Work collaboratively with the MLCE Team to identify new opportunities for events and classes run by our own team, maximising a vibrant programme seven days a week.
  4. • Work with the MLCE Team to ensure the timely coordination of regular communications and marketing campaigns around our programme.
  5. • Ensure that other team members are familiar with our range of activities and events and have the opportunity to engage in them fully.
  6. • Develop volunteer opportunities working with the MLCE Team
  7. • Utilize the organisation’s social media channels in the promotion of the programme.

Income Maximisation & Budget Management

  1. • Manage the Marcus Lipton Community Centre budget and income in regards to space and facilities hire.
  2. • Plan and monitor event occupancy levels to ensure the Centre achieves targets and does not exceed the safe numbers of occupants at any given time.
  3. • Efficiently manage existing Users to ensure their continued rental or repeat business.
  4. • Prepare and present annual income generation forecasts, supported by monthly and quarterly monitoring and evaluation data.
  5. • Provide constructive feedback to the staff team of the customer service experience of our clients to push for improvements and excellence of service

 

Venue Hire Coordination

  1. • Collaborating with service managers and the caretaker/s, manage rotas, to ensure that the Centre operates seven days a week for room hirers.
  2. • Ensure that high standards of customer care are achieved in all customer-facing interactions.
  3. • Provide constructive feedback to the staff team of the customer service experience of our clients to push for improvements and excellence of service.
  4. • When required, ensure any complaints are handled effectively in line with our policies and procedures.
  5. • Establish and maintain clear operating systems for room hire and event bookings though online booking and payment systems.
  6. • Ensure all records are kept up-to-date and that information is input in a timely and

General

  1. • To be a participatory staff team member of ML Community Enterprise.
  2. • To attend staff team meetings, supervision, and training, when required.
  3. • To ensure that MLCE Equal Opportunities policy is adhered to in daily work practice.
  4. • To have a trauma informed approach to the delivery of this role (training provided)
  5. • To undertake evening/weekend work as necessary to undertake the role.
  6. • To undertake other duties to further promote the objectives of ML Community Enterprise, as directed by senior Managers or the CO-CEOs.
  7. • Work with managers to ensure that adequate Safeguarding training is provided to all staff and volunteers as it relates to the building.

  1. • Maintain the integrity of all personal data; protecting personal data from breaches and maintain the confidentiality of personal data.
  2. • Report any data breaches promptly to your line manager.
