Role Specification:
Job purpose: The purpose of this role is to provide the intern with the opportunity to develop as an administrator, whilst gaining an insight into the day to day running of an arts organisation. The intern will gain skills in accessible practice and an understanding of how to work with visually impaired and blind artists.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Organisational: Develop your understanding of an arts organisation which develops work nationally and internationally.
- Learn about how an arts organisation delivers its work by attending regular meetings.
- Work with the administrator to create accessible marketing content for social media and Extant’s website. The intern will also support the administrator with the quarterly newsletter.
- Attend Extant’s monthly participatory sessions; No Dramas, Extant Theatre Club and Extant Connect (Online), which enable visually impaired and blind people to experience drama workshops, accessible theatre and artist development opportunities.
- Provide adhoc administrative support to the administrator and the company including travel, accommodation research, compiling project evaluation surveys, and data collection.
- The intern will also participate in training opportunities to upskill their development

Person specification:
Essential Criteria:
The role is funded by Lambeth's ELEVATE programme which aims to get young people from underrepresented backgrounds into the Creative and Digital sectors. To meet the needs of this role, you will need to be:
- Lambeth resident (with the exception of Lambeth care experienced young people).
- 16 to 24 years old.
- Not currently in education, employment or training.
- Must be Visually Impaired or Disabled.
- Must be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
- Must be comfortable working with guide assistant dogs in the office.
- Must be willing to travel with the administrator to national projects (travel costs covered by company).
- Good at working with people and working alone.
- Flexible and adaptable (often in a busy working environment).
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
- A willingness, desire and curiosity to try new things.
- Some understanding of the social model of disability and visual impairment awareness and be willing to learn (full training will be provided).
- A shared ethos for making theatre accessible for blind and visually impaired people.
- An interest in all types of theatre as well as how a theatre organisation runs.
