Description

Role Description & Purpose

MYsocial was set up by Age UK Lambeth to help people discover friendships, connect with their community, and do things that make them happy. Our goals are to have a real impact on the ability of older people to live independent lives, support their own well-being and actively contribute to society.

MYsocial is building a community. This is a community of local people wanting to make new friends and do new things together.  It’s also a community of local people supporting local independent traders by getting access to discounts.

We love local businesses. They are the lifeblood of any community. Local people creating jobs and revenue for other local people. Local businesses are at the heart of local communities.

We are building a database of local businesses who would like to join our growing community by offering a discount to MYSocial members and to recipients of the Lambeth Carers Card, an exciting new project providing information and support to carers in the borough. We also promote the business widely through our contacts and social media to increase their customer base.

And that’s where we need your help!

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and passionate person to approach local businesses and secure discounts for our members and carers.

This is a sales-ey type role but with a social goal.  You’ll bring a certain level of confidence and a social personality, and enjoy talking to new people and selling them on the benefits of helping our service.  You’ll understand the benefits to them as a business, and to the older people we support, and you’ll be able to communicate both clearly and with enough enthusiasm to encourage them to sign up!

You’ll spend lots of time on the phone to, engaged in email conversations with, and out in the community speaking to local businesses owners, passionately explaining to them why they should get involved with our MYsocial community.

Given that you’ll need to be a ‘glass half full’ kind of person, be able to keep calm under pressure, with a positive outlook and lots of energy.  You need to love seeing people meeting up, learning new things or trying new activities.

We can offer you a friendly workplace with a dynamic team, supportive and experienced colleagues who can provide training and guidance, and supervision on the job to make sure your work is strong and that you are developing.
