Description

Community Fibre are recruiting for a Lead Electrician to support the network operation teams throughout the London area. The opportunity is available on a permanent basis and will require regular travel throughout many of the boroughs in London. As a result, you will be provided with a company vehicle to support you with the remote nature of the work.

As the Lead Electrician, you will be providing PPM and reactive maintenance to a range of sites including core network and remote operational sites. The sites will vary from network critical data centres, core operational buildings and active telecommunication cabinets. Community Fibre are looking for those with strong competencies in telecommunications electronics, data centre environment assets, external power supplies and telecommunications cabinets, network alarming systems and various other electric/active components.

Duties

  • To provide supervisory and technical support to the network operations team.
  • To undertake the day-to-day PPM and reactive maintenance of active network sites to ensure their functionality, compliance, and efficient operation
  • Provide supervisory and technical support to the network build team and manage the day-to-day operations of the active network infrastructure.
  • Ensure that routine maintenance is carried out to all buildings, active equipment, and systems to meet and exceed expectations and agreed service level agreements
  • Ensure that all electrical systems and associated records are maintained to NICIEC standards
  • Ensure that equipment cooling systems are maintained to comply with and meet network and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the compliance of equipment and detailed record-keeping for all tasks
  • Ensure that suitable spares are available to carry out maintenance
  • Issue permits to work for high-risk activities and ensure appropriate controls are adhered to.
  • Liaise with DNO’s and electrical contractors to ensure that all works are installed and maintained to industry standards.
  • Ensure that Method Statements and Risk Assessments, both internal a are prepared for all tasks carried out to ensure safe working practices
  • Ensure that engineering subcontractors are appropriately qualified, supervised, comply with contractual commitments, legislation and site operating processes
  • To develop a good working relationship with all members of staff and client’s staff
  • Ensure the provision of a safe & healthy working practices, environment and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, company policies and procedures.
  • To contribute to a call out rota for the network operations team by being available for call-out when designated
  • Compile quotes for remedial works and small works to include labour and materials.
  • Review electrical contractor selection and quotes for remedial works and small works to include labour and materials

Essential criteria

  • Qualified electrician registered with  UK government approved body.
  • Educated to a minimum of City and Guilds or equivalent in an electrical discipline
  • Completion of a recognised technical training scheme, apprenticeship (or equivalent programme) in Electrical Engineering
  • 18th Edition IEE Regs
  • IOSH Working Safely
  • Hold other relevant training appropriate to work in a building maintenance environment e.g. first aid, IPAF, PASMA, etc.
  • Working knowledge of asset management / CAFM systems
  • To hold experience in a similar supervisory position
  • Excellent knowledge of the operation and maintenance of electrical services, plant and equipment
  • Excellent all-round ability in a busy building maintenance team
