Duties

  • Support Projects: Assist with inspecting works in progress for compliance and report any issues to the Project Manager and Principal Contractor.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit monthly reports on the general progress, incidents, variations, and other necessary information. Attend site meetings if requested.
  • Diary Maintenance: Keep a weekly diary of work progress, delays, unsatisfactory workmanship or materials, site visitors, and weather conditions.
  • Delay Recording: Record and inform the Project Manager of any occurrences or situations likely to cause delays.
  • Practical Advice: Provide practical advice to the Project Manager regarding the project.
  • Query Submission: Submit queries on drawings and specifications, and highlight any discrepancies to the Project Manager. Assist in evaluating drawings at the pre-construction phase if requested.
  • Work Monitoring: Monitor and inspect work performed by any person engaged by the Client under the Building Contract.
  • Site Visits: Visit the site once weekly to oversee the above tasks.
  • Inspections: Undertake snagging/pre-handover inspections and end-of-defects inspections as required.
  • Meeting Attendance: Attend site meetings as needed.


Essential criteria

  • Attention to detail – To spot even the smallest defects
  • Communication skills – To communicate with people at all levels and clearly convey findings from inspections
  • Problem-solving skills – To quickly address and resolve quality issues
  • Computer literacy – To use software to track defects and maintain records
  • Technical knowledge – Familiarity with industry-specific tools, techniques, and standards like ISO 9001
  • Analytical Thinking – To understand the root causes of defects and analyse data from inspections
  • Organisational skills – To manage time and tasks efficiently


Requirements:

  • Undertake a HND in Construction Technology Qualification
  • Driving licence with access to a car is ideal due to the travel requirements of the role
