Description

Main purpose of the role: Support our Civil and/or Project Engineers to organise and manage engineering works on our construction sites.

Duties

  • Support dimensional control of construction projects

  • Assist design teams with civil engineering solutions on construction projects

  • Supervise specialist contractors

  • Contribute to the control of health and safety on construction projects

  • Record, control and report progress on a construction project, e.g. during site and client visits

  • Contribute to the minimisation of the environmental impact of construction projects

  • Control the quality of works on a construction project

  • Assist in setting out and levelling using Total Station and Auto Levels et al.

  • Order and control materials such as reinforcement and concrete etc.

  • Contribute to Risk Assessments and Method Statements, morning briefings and inductions

  • Contribute to document control

Essential criteria

  • Full driving licence preferred, willingness and ability to travel; and

  • The right to work permanently and legally in the UK 

  • Previous experience of working in the construction industry / on a construction site

  • Interest in Construction and the Build Environment

  • Interest in technology and materials

  • Team work

  • Effective communication

  • Interest in working with people from a wide range of backgrounds and experience
  • CSCS card

Required qualifications

Ideally candidates will have three A-Levels Grade a or B and GCSEs in Maths (Grade B / 5 or 6), English and a Science subject or equivalent.

Additional information

The recruitment process includes a mandatory week UNPAID work experience on-site prior to the job offer.

This is an Apprenticeship position. One day per week the Trainee Construction Site Engineering Technician will attend a course at a college with the aim to attain the HNC in Construction and the Built Environment. The course will take 2 to 2.5 years to complete.

This is a great step to acquire the qualification needed to apply for a degree in Civil Engineering, obtaining hands-on experience from day one providing a clear progression route to a BSc (Hons) Degree if wanted.  This is a L4 programme to achieve the HNC in Construction and the Built Environment.

To be considered you must be motivated, good with people, intuitive and have an interest in technology and the built environment. You will also need to have an understanding of the level of commitment required from you to successfully manage working in a full time role alongside furthering your education.
