Duties

Purpose of Role

Operating across key Lambeth wards you will build rich relationships with the community and will coordinate and liaise effectively with stakeholders in order to help implement, develop, monitor and ensure LEAP’s community engagement work.

Key Accountabilities

• Assist the People in the Lead Manager to implement and monitor an inclusive and effective community engagement strategy

• Coordinate, support and guide Family Engagement Workers (FEW’s) who operate from Voluntary Community Sector (VCS) organisations within each of the four ‘LEAP wards’; Stockwell, Vassall, Coldharbour and Tulse Hill. Ensuring, as part of coordination duties that there is also good join-up with the LEAP Communications team and the LEAP Parent Champion (Volunteer)Team

• Work collaboratively with parents and carers of children under four, ensuring representation of voice and diversity of the community

• Report on programme activities, as directed by the People in the lead Manager

Role Descriptors

A) Decision Making

• Coordinate, support and oversee the work of FEWs located in each of the four LEAP wards; supporting each worker to plan and deliver against contracted activities and goals by the deadlines provided

• To assist the People in the Lead Manager to identify co-production mechanisms to further enable community engagement initiatives

B) Analysis and Initiative

• To identify gaps and opportunities for improving community engagement and reach and to proactively connect different community partners with LEAP work

• To coordinate monitoring, evaluation and reporting of engagement activities in the four LEAP wards; providing timely reports to the People in the Lead Manager

• To help identify barriers to involvement, particularly for vulnerable or hard-to-reach groups

• To explore additional grant funding opportunities and income streams to help sustain VCS partner delivery

C) Working Relationships

• To network and enhance knowledge of smaller VCS organisations, community and parent-led groups as well as other local networks; using salesforce and other tools to map out and maintain a database of organisations, groups and activities

• To work closely with FEW’s, the People in the Lead Manager and the Parent Champion team in order to deliver effective LEAP Parent Forums in each ward

• To support with the co-production of service design and monitoring of active LEAP services for local parents and communities. This includes working closely with parents, organisations and groups to review and feedback on current services and processes

• To promote parents’ voices and celebrate key milestones by supporting the organisation of LEAP events and the presence of LEAP at other local events

• To collaborate with local VCS partners, the People in the Lead Manager and the LEAP Communications team to disseminate information to parents, local communities, as well as other relevant stakeholders

• To represent LEAP in local voluntary sector forums and any other relevant statutory or community forums

• Develop good working relationships and communication systems with colleagues across the organisation; developing a good knowledge of LEAP provision and coordinating with colleagues across NCB to provide expertise and other support

D) Resource Management

• To take the lead in promoting and engaging the community and other key stakeholders with the LEAP Community Awards (small pots of funding to enable community activity which benefits LEAP children and their families).

Essential criteria

Knowledge, Skills and Expertise

• Ability to work in a self-directed manner to liaise with partners and plan activities

• Experience of coordinating and delivering

• Experience of monitoring and evaluating

• Experience of working with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Excellent interpersonal and people skills, particularly around conflict management and influencing. With a proven track record of building and maintaining effective relationships

• Excellent written communications

• Excellent planning and organisational skills, with an eye for detail

• Proficient in the use of IT with experience of using video communication channels such as Zoom and Teams

• Good team player

• A commitment to children’s rights, equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice Other

• A willingness to occasionally work and travel outside of contracted hours, for which notice will be given
