Description

Circa £60,000 per annum, depending on experience plus benefits.

Your main responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage a robust strategy and annual plan for the business areas that you are responsible for, in order to meet the contractual requirements and business targets, including growth on commercial waste and be accountable for its delivery. 
  • Champion the process of increasing the rate of recycling/composting for municipal waste, reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill ensuring that any Key Performance Indicator (KPI) requirements are achieved.
  • Implement and manage a robust health & safety culture in full compliance with corporate governance policies, procedures and systems and all relevant legislation ensuring compilation of data and commitment to improving the safety and welfare of our people and environment within which we work.
  • Develop and maintain a network of relationships with the customer, potential customers, partners, and stakeholders in order to anticipate and meet customers and stakeholders existing and future needs. 
  • Conduct regular team and departmental meetings, monitoring and taking action to ensure business targets and objectives are met, including submitting accurate and timely reports.
  • Provide leadership and management to the business such that all employees understand and adopt the strategy and plans and are motivated to achieve their objectives in a timely and professional manner.
  • Have oversight and ensure the day to day running of the service is maximised to performance and use of equipment and labour through direct reports in your business area.
  • Ensure that adequate training is provided for all employees to provide the service requirements in a safe and cost-effective manner through effective personal performance development process.

Essential criteria

  • Ideally you be working as an Operations Manager or similar with previous experience of providing operational management to large teams of blue-collar workers within a unionised environment.
  • Experience managing direct and indirect reporting lines, ideally within a multi-disciplined contract environment.
  • Strong financial knowledge to confidently manage a budget, forecasting and profit and loss accounting
  • Experience on collaboration and negotiation with trade unions
  • Ability to communicate a clear and compelling vision and purpose that engages and inspires others and consciously uses a range of influencing processes to build commitment to changes required for long-term outcomes. 
  • Previous experience of working within Environmental Services is not essential as we will provide any additional training you may need.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Management Level 5 qualification or equivalent
  • CPC Licence holder is desirable – will be essential to obtain within first 18 months
  • NEBOSH qualification – desirable but not essential
