Wandsworth Council Lifelong Learning is part of the council’s Children’s Services department, and delivers courses, work experience and support to over 4,000 young people and adults every year.

The service employs a core team of 36 staff and tutors, with a strong emphasis on achieving the best possible outcomes for learners of all ages. Working collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders is key and we value our strong relationship with local employers.

An exciting vacancy has arisen providing the opportunity to make a big impact. The post-holder will be responsible for delivering Information, Advice and Guidance to targeted groups of young people and adults, supporting the development of partnerships in the community. There will be a strong emphasis on employer engagement to maximise opportunities for all client groups.

Duties

This is an interesting and varied role which includes the following areas of work:

  • To develop and maintain an information and advice referral system both within the service, the council and to other external providers.
  • To maintain an up-to-date resource base of careers, learning opportunities, support programmes.
  • To liaise with local services in the Information, Advice and Guidance Partnership to provide a coherent network of information and advice services and refer individuals to appropriate services when required.
  • To contribute to the effective co-ordination and operation of a developing information and advice service within the: - Education Business Partnership, also known as Business and Education Succeeding Together (BEST); adults on Adult Education Budget (AEB) programmes; and young people and adults on European Social Fund (ESF) programmes.
  • To actively contribute to the widening participation policy of the service in assisting individuals who experience social and educational disadvantage, or face barriers to their participation in learning, to access appropriate curriculum opportunities. This includes both unemployed and employed participants.

Required qualifications

Must hold a minimum of a Level 3 Certificate in Advice and Guidance.
