Description

  • Working week: Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm Total hours per week: 37.5

    Expected duration: 24 months

  • Possible start date: 04 Apr 2022

  • Apprenticeship level: Higher Level 4 (Higher national Certificate)

  • A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Apprentice Healthcare Science Associate Practitioner to support the Cardiac and Respiratory teams by being trained, via the apprenticeship route to undertake a range of routine non-invasive Cardiac/Respiratory investigations.


Duties

  • Be trained to perform routine and urgent Cardiac and Respiratory non invasive investigations
  • Be trained to prepare equipment for periods of ambulatory monitoring, for ECG, blood pressure, respiratory investigations
  • Attach equipment and advise patients, giving clear and concise instructions so as to optimise recording, assist with reporting in conjunction with qualified Physiologists
  •  Be trained to receive and assist patients and/or carers to prepare for Cardiology and respiratory investigations
  • Trained to support senior colleagues with the clinical analysis of data
  • Deliver appropriate and individualised patient care at all times; provide information to patients on outcomes of clinical procedures and next stages of care
  • Maintain clinical documentation and databases; participate in the provision of data for statistical analysis
  • Trained to set up and the safe use of expensive complex medical equipment used during investigations
  • Trained to undertake simple fault remedy, cleaning and maintenance of recording equipment and other equipment
  •  Comment on and contribute to the development of local policy such as health and safety and quality assurance policies
  • Ensure adequate levels of stock are maintained and assist with the checking in, storing and unpacking of items
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the department by providing administrative support as required by the Clinical Lead Physiologist
  • Ensure a safe and clean environment is maintained at all times Because of the changing nature of our business job descriptions will inevitably change
  • Postholders will, from time to time, be required to undertake other activities of a similar nature that fall within their capabilities as directed by management

Required qualifications

Must hold evidence of having achieved grade 4/C or above GCSE or equivalent in Math and English.
