Duties

Berkeley St Edward are seeking to appoint a person to lead community liaison at Oval Village. This individual will develop and manage relationships with the existing community, and be pro-active in building new relationships. Working closely with the Construction, Land and Communication teams, they will play a pivotal role in communicating key technical issues to the community during the construction process. Working alongside key public, private and voluntary partners, the post will bring about lasting social, economic and environmental improvements. 

We are looking for a highly motivated creative individual with the knowledge and experience to fill this new role. You will have energy and drive, but also patience and humility. You will be confident and credible with our senior regeneration partners, but also work alongside local residents and undertake routine reporting activities. 

Shift Pattern: 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (this could be a part time role, expectation of evening meetings etc.)  

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 
  • Effectively communicate technical issues with the community during periods of key site activities. (Note: a detailed technical understanding of construction activities is beneficial but not required for this role). 
  • Pro-actively develop relationships with the local community, including door knocking existing neighbours to ensure they have all the information required on the development. 
  • Create effective and impactful methods of communication with residents to gain their endorsement. 
  • Communicate key site activities with the community and key local stakeholders. 
  • Manage the Community Engagement Plan with the local community and stakeholders. 
  • Coordinate Community Liaison Groups and develop relationships with key attendees. Seek to encourage more members of the community to attend. 
  • Prepare the content of the project and construction updates with the Project and Land team. Develop quarterly newsletters with the Communications team. 
  • Build relationships with the existing community, resident groups and key local stakeholders. 
  • Support the project Employment and Skills Coordinator on delivering the Employment and Skills Plan, including engaging with schools and youth workers. 
  • Assist the sustainability team in measuring the social value impact of Oval Village. 
  • Support cohesion between all relevant stakeholders, predominantly Berkeley, subcontractors, Lambeth Council and local residents. 
  • Act as an ambassador of Berkeley St Edward by promoting our strategic objectives for creating a new community.
