Duties

Keltbray work collaboratively with our customers to deliver critical national infrastructure projects across England , as well as major built environment and flood alleviation projects in our towns and cities. Our goals are to: ● Grow: turnover, margin and customer satisfaction ● Improve: operational delivery, reliability and outcomes ● Sustain: our people, communities and the environment

As an Apprentice Groundworker, you can expect to assist and work in one or more of the following roles:

  • Creating access routes to the site
  • Digging trenches for foundations
  • Laying the foundations for the building
  • Digging trenches for drainage
  • Constructing the drainage system
  • Create paths and kerbs using tarmac or concrete slabs
  • An Apprentice Groundworker safety is a top priority, you must:

    • Follow strict health and safety and environmental regulations at all times
    • Maintaining full PPE at all times, when outside of the green route
    • Look out for the safety of themselves and others around them
    • Work well as a team and as an individual, communicating with various tradespeople
    • Operate roller or compaction equipment
    • Any other duties as required
    • The training you will be getting

      • Groundworker level 2

      The apprentice will be sponsored to attend a workshop and study based programme at the Building Craft College, for CITB Level 2 Diploma plus NVQ Construction Operations, over a 2 year block release.

      • You will be required to attend college and further training to help you complete your apprenticeship
      • Training will be delivered as part of a block release programme whereby you will attend off the job courses for example Health & Safety Awareness (CITB), concrete technology, slinger signalling, plant machinery marshal, and gain a valid CSCS card
      • Assessments to gain the relevant certifications will take place during the apprenticeships
      • At the end of the programme, Apprentices will be required to successfully complete an End Point Assessment. This consists of a practical assessment of skills learned and a discussion to assess additional knowledge

      What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

      • Once you have successfully completed the Level 2 Groundworker Apprenticeship, there will be opportunities to continue your professional career and development with Keltbray
