Description

Camberwell After School Project provides an integrated childcare service to children from age 2 to 11 years. We operate our services from 14 Badsworth Road, Camberwell and open 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, 49 weeks a year between 7.45am to 6.30pm.

The Beanstalk Climbers Early Years provision currently operates from 8:30am to 2.30pm Monday to Friday 38 weeks per year during term time.

CASP aims to advance the development and education of children, young people and adults offering appropriate play, education, care, family learning and out-of-school-hours services and providing appropriate training and learning opportunities to improve the employability, well-being and personal development of young people and adults.

Our services include a pre-school nursery, after school collection from several schools, school holiday play schemes and morning breakfast and drop off to school services.

Duties

To take responsibility for the day-to-day running and administration of the Early Years Beanstalk Climbers provision, including promoting the provision, maximise intake, management and supervision of early years’ staff, volunteers and students, managing budget, resources, premises, the welfare, learning and development of children and liaison with parents/carers, in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Framework under the guidance of the Chief Executive Officer.

To develop and lead high quality practice and provision for two-to four-year-olds to ensure that all children reach their full potential, within all areas of learning.

To ensure adequate supervision and support of good practice amongst, staff, trainees, students, and volunteers are followed.

To be part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and to deputise for the Chief Executive Officer in her/his absence in areas of childcare and safeguarding.

⮚ Oversee and record appropriate activities for children’s development which meet Ofsted standards

⮚ Monitor and ensure that children’s activity is updated and log onto Tapestry regularly.

⮚ Creating an inclusive, safe, caring and stimulating environment that promotes learning through play.

⮚ Supervising focus activity to ensure that activities take into account the individual needs of each child (including those with SEND) by implementing a key worker system.

⮚ Work in close relationship with the SENCO.

⮚ To support the planning and to provide a programme of activities suitable to the age range of children within each group.

⮚ Working closely with parents and/or carers, giving them a high standard of customer service, including regular progress reports on their child’s development.

⮚ To ensure the safety and welfare of all children attending the Centre.

⮚ To have responsibility for the assessment and recording and monitoring of the needs of allocated children.

⮚ Making sure that equipment, such as furniture and toys, is in good condition.

⮚ Recruiting and inducting suitably qualified and experienced staff

⮚ Making claims for the Free Early Year grant, keeping accurate records

⮚ Regular update the Cool Milk Account

Essential criteria

Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines and targets

Excellent leadership skills and the ability to support, develop and motivate staff

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Good time keeping and reliable.

Previous managerial experience in a childcare environment

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.

Experience of providing high quality day-care to young children.

Understanding of the early year’s foundation stage learning goals.

Ability to write reports that will be helpful and information to parents, carers and professional staff.

Strong leadership and communication skills

Good business skills and a clear understanding of child protection, early years care and education.

Ability to work with young children and their families in a sensitive and positive way and have a child-centred focus at all times.

Ability to build good working relationships with relevant external agencies, schools, and childcare professionals

Required qualifications

A recognised childcare qualification equivalent to Level 3 Diploma in an Early Year’s related subject

This post will have a high degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. An enhance disclosure will be sought through the DBS as part of CASP’s pre-employment checks. This post will also be required to complete a Disqualification by Association Declaration and a Suitability Declaration
