Duties

The Role

To assist the Logistics Supervisor with the provision of a safe secure and efficient service for the building, tenants and legitimate users of the Loading Dock/Car Parking and courier room facilities.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Assisting with the general loading dock operation and to ensure that all activities are carried out in a well-disciplined, efficient and co-operative manner for the benefit of all legitimate users of the loading dock facilities, along with the day to day operation of the courier room.
  2. Maintaining the loading dock/car park/associated storage and service areas and to ensure that all such areas in good order and that hygienic conditions are maintained at all times.
  3. To comply with the agreed procedures in the recording of all tenant deliveries by ensuring that tenants are promptly informed of such deliveries and that the necessary authorised signatures for delivered goods are obtained and to ensure that the required logs are maintained and processed in accordance with the agreed procedures.
  4. To ensure all packages received from tenants are efficiently processed.
  5. To ensure that only authorised and trained personnel use the equipment and machinery located in the car park/loading dock/courier room and that such equipment is functioning correctly, with particular reference to compactors and dock levellers. All faults and defects to be reported to the building “Help Desk” immediately for rectification.
  6. To assist the Logistics Supervisor with the delivery and collection of waste compactor containers as required and the operation of compactors.
  7. To be thoroughly familiar and comply with the company’s “Health & Safety” policy and procedures and to ensure that the correct protective clothing is worn where applicable.
  8. To ensure that all users of the loading dock/car park areas observe and comply with the necessary regulations and precautions in respect of “Health & Safety” regulations.
  9. To ensure that the courier room is staffed during operational hours and not left unattended.
  10. To maintain good working relationships with tenant representatives and suppliers/contractors using the facilities.
  11. To carry out other reasonable duties as requested by the Logistics Supervisor.

Essential criteria

  1. Previous experience in working within a loading dock or similar environment is preferable.
  2. The duties will include some form of heavy lifting and strenuous physical activity. Therefore, the incumbent must have the ability to undertake such duties.
  3. The incumbent must be computer literate; able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  4. It is desirable that the incumbent holds a current forklift license.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.
  6. Possess hand signalling skills.
  7. The incumbent must have an appreciation of the importance of customer service and how this is applied in the context of Canary Wharf.
