Duties

Based in Streatham, London

We are looking for an experienced, dynamic Barista for a new neighbourhood-community café in a brand new development. This is a great opportunity for you to make your mark on this project whilst making a difference to people’s lives. This café is a social enterprise project run by a Lambeth based charity called Rathbone. The café will employ people with learning disabilities and train them for careers in the catering industry as well as operate as a fully commercial venture.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have Barista experience, along with a passion for fresh food and great drinks.

As Café Front of House, you will work closely with the chef and the Café Manager to come up with creative and innovative offers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with trainees and students and their learning/support provider
  • Fulfilling Front House duties, providing exceptional customer service
  • Operating the coffee machine and kitchen equipment
  • With the help of the manager and chef, implement seasonal offers and drinks based on   customer preferences and feedback
  • Update Social Media and Café website
  • Identify strategies to retain and attract customers to the café
  • Assist in food and beverage preparation
  • To be responsible for the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the food service areas ensuring all aspects of the Food Safety Act are maintained
  • To attend regular team meetings with other members of the senior staff and other projects within the building
  • Work within the values, policies and procedures of the Rathbone charity

· Requirements

  • Full understanding / training in front of house operations
  • Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
  • The ability to work with a number of different groups and project sharing the same building
  • Strong communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills

20 hours a week/7 days. Evenings may be required depending on the demands of the business

Part-time permanent contract, 20 days holiday + Bank Holidays
