The Vertus team manage all aspects of the Build to Rent assets on the Estate, as well as the initial management during the final construction programme and handover period.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Building Manager, Janitor will maintain the cleanliness of the all Communal Areas within the Vertus portfolio as requested by Management by Management Team.


Duties

Reporting to the Building Manager, the Janitor will maintain the cleanliness of the all Communal Areas within the Vertus portfolio as requested by Management Team.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To inspect all communal areas and offices at regular intervals and carry out cleaning as required.
  2. Keep the Building Management team informed of any issues that may arise.
  3. To ensure the commercial kitchen, amenities areas, show apartments, storage areas, reception area and plant rooms, are always kept clean and tidy.
  4. To ensure that coffee machine is always fully stocked with coffee, milk and drinking chocolate.
  5. To regularly inspect and clean all washrooms/toilets in amenity areas and staff welfare area. To ensure that they are properly equipped, and a very high standard of cleanliness is maintained.
  6. To clear tables of crockery where required and clean them in the dishwasher.
  7. To carry out the cleaning function in an efficient, effective, and polite manner to cause minimal disruption to the building.
  8. To be thoroughly familiar and comply with the Company’s Health & Safety policy and procedures and to ensure that all tasks carried out are in accordance with the established Health & Safety regulations.
  9. To be fully aware of the Health and Safety requirements relating to food preparation areas.
  10. To ensure waste is disposed of in line with the company strategy.
  11. To undertake additional duties at the direction of the Building Management team.

Essential criteria

  1. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, proactive, approachable and demonstrate a willingness to assist others.
  2. The incumbent must ensure that his/her appearance reflects the professional image of Vertus.
  3. Politeness and tact are an essential requirement as interaction with tenants, visitors and colleagues is on-going. In view of this requirement, excellent verbal communication skills are essential.
  4. The duties will include some form of heavy lifting and strenuous physical activity. Therefore, the incumbent must have the ability to undertake such duties.
  5. The incumbent must have the ability to use cleaning equipment.
  6. Must have good communication skills, excellent customer service skills, strong organisational skills
  7. The right candidate must possess knowledge of COSHH, health and safety in the workplace and best cleaning practices for maintaining special surfaces to a high standard such as glass, stainless steel, marble/limestone.
  8. The incumbent must have an appreciation of the importance of customer service and how this is applied in the context of Canary Wharf.
