Duties

JOB SUMMARY

To deputise for the Treasury Accountant, assisting with cash management and debt for the Canary Wharf Group and providing support during the implementation of new systems.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

1 Assisting in the monitoring of the cash flows and preparing regular monthly cashflow updates, and ensuring sufficient cash cover:

• Assisting the Treasury Accountant in preparation of the monthly and quarterly cashflow updates.

• Sitting with key business teams on a regular basis to review their cashflow projections

• Ensuring the team manages cash transfers between various accounts (funding of cheque runs, manual cheques, telegraphic transfers and wires, payroll, PAYE payments), to prevent any overdraft situations.

2 Assisting with implementation of a new Treasury Management System and attendant upgrades to existing processes.

3 Implementing new processes following the launch of the group’s new residential rental business (Vertus), helping the Vertus management team during the let-up phase.

4 Assisting the Group Treasurer with elements of the debt raising process and the transition away from LIBOR toward SONIA (or other replacement index).

5 Responsibility for review (and occasional preparation) of daily bank reconciliations (approx. 100 accounts) involving, inter alia:

• Monitoring bank balances and updating Bank Transactions Report detailing and analysing type and reason for bank entries.

• Monitoring manual cheque books.

• Updating Accounting system records and running reports.

• Preparing daily bank reconciliations by reconciling bank balances to Accounting system information.

• Updating reconciliation summary.

• Placing surplus cash on overnight and longer-term deposits and negotiating with bank to gain maximum returns.

• Distributing bank reconciliations on a daily basis.

• Submitting the reconciliation summary to senior management.

6 Overview of monthly bank reconciliations (approx. 650 accounts).

7 Preparation of the year end bank account reconciliations and liaising with external auditors.

8 Monitoring interest receivable. Reviewing group deposits strategy and providers.

9 Monitoring bank charges.

10 Responsible for liaising with banks re KYC. Understands the urgency of KYC processes and the timing challenges these represent.

11 Able to sense check interest and SWAP calculations and challenge banks where differences are identified.

12 Responsible from time to time for preparation of manual payment instruction (Barclays and Lloyds).

13 Assisting in the setting up of new bank accounts, closing bank accounts and the maintenance of existing accounts.

14 Liaison with Management Accounts, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Personnel to ensure the timely and accurate updating of the Accounting system.

15 Liaison with banks regarding on-boarding.

16 Assisting in the preparation of letters for quarterly interest payments and other payments as required.

17 Assisting in the preparation of the finance leases and ground rents transactions.

18 Analysis of construction projects' funding transfers and spending.

19 Maintenance of bank records.

20 Assisting in the preparation of the quarterly construction loans interest payments.

21 Assisting in the preparation of the construction loans drawdowns.

22 Ad hoc, project led tasks as required by the Group Treasurer from time to time.

Essential criteria

1. Ideally will have a Treasury qualification or Accounting qualification with experience in a hands-on treasury or accountancy role including the preparation of financial accounts.

2. Good attention to detail, excellent numeracy, organisation and communication skills.

3. Computer literate and possess a good working knowledge of Excel/Word. Strong knowledge of accounting systems would be helpful. Familiarity with Treasury Management Systems would be helpful and ideally experience of implementation of a new system.

4. Able to work under pressure, use their initiative and have a flexible, methodical and ordered approach to their work.

5. Good interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a team.

6. Conversant with Derivatives.

7. Nice to have experience of using virtual accounts systems

System training will be provided as necessary.
